What’s Preventing You From Finishing Your Follow-through? Watch This Week’s Video!

‘Improved Distance, Accuracy & Consistency’

Although not being able to Follow-through does not determine how the ball flies … it does show that something in your golf swing maybe out of sync prior to the club meeting the golf ball.

Though, you can’t fix a bad Follow-through by practicing your Follow-through!

Not being able to Follow-through is an Effect of something else malfunctioning … thus, we have to look deeper into your golf swing to uncover what’s impeding your Follow-through … The Cause!

Where most Golf Instruction fails is that the Instructor tries to fix the Effect before finding the Cause … and that’s when the chaos begins.

In this week’s video … Marc will show what might be preventing you from moving through the ball. As well as demonstrating how you can dig further into your swing to find your own “Tour Pro Finish”

Releasing Your Golf Swing To Hit The Golf Ball Farther … Watch This Week’s Video!

Golfers looking for more distance are often battling between swaying too much or protecting against the sway by standing overly stiff. Even the PGA & LPGA Tour Players have to work on balancing too much vs too little while they practice. So you probably should also!

We have found that the more successful the Golfer … the better they’re able to find the balance between power and control. The less skilled the Golfer … the harder it is to find that balance.

So how can you release more power while maintaining accuracy?

With this week’s video/drill, you can start determining how much is too much, how much is too little, and of course … how much is perfect for your golf swing.

Create Power In Your Golf Swing For More Distance

‘Learn To Balance Accuracy With The Desire For Distance’
When you try to smash the ball as far as you can … you’ll see your accuracy decrease

Which often leads many Golfers to being overly focused on swinging slower than they are capable of … just so you can “Keep The Ball In Play”

Which causes you to hit the ball 20 yards less than you should be … making holes play longer … and rarely allowing yourself to experience the exhilaration of ‘Bombing A Drive Down The Fairway!’

Being able to balance power  … while maintaining enough accuracy to keep the golf ball in play – is what the PGA & LPGA Tour Players also have to be conscious about every time they swing

Yet, the Tour Players didn’t master that balance overnight … it takes years of practice mixed with trial and error … to earn the high level of control they have … both physically and mentally

This week’s video gives you a visual of how you can start syncing your body, arms and legs to hit longer golf shots while “Keeping The Ball In Play”

Stop Swinging Too Hard With Your Driver!

There’s nothing more satisfying than walking off the 18th green knowing that you hit your Driver well all day. So to have that happen more often … when hitting your Driver – should you try to:

A) Swing with more effort than you swing your pitching wedge

B) Swing with less effort than you swing your pitching wedge

C) Swing with the same effort as you swing your pitching wedge

We often see the greatest improvement from Golfers when they learn to allow for the same amount of effort with their Driver as they are using with their pitching wedge … and simply trusting the club to do the work!

It’s frustrating when a Golfer knows that he/she shouldn’t swing so hard, yet slice after slice – we continue to do it! “Oh, dang it … I just tried to kill that golf ball!”

Though, at GMS we’ve found that many of the Golfers that feel as if they’re swinging too hard … are actually struggling because they decelerate with their Driver.

Deceleration? Why Does It Feel As If You’re Swinging Too Hard?

There are two ways you may decelerate, yet feel as if you’re swinging too hard –

1. you could be slowing your body on the forward swing … which causes your arms to fling forward without much control like a slingshot. Although, many Golfers blame their arms … it’s the body stopping that caused the arms to fling forward without control

2. your arms could be slowing down (because you’re trying to swing slower) while your body continues to move as it should – which may give you the feeling of “I’m getting too far ahead of the ball … I feel like I’m lunging at the ball”.

Either way – it’ll appear to others (and to yourself) that you’re swinging too hard because the swing didn’t look smooth.

Yet, in reality, all that’s happening is that either your arms or body is decelerating. And because you looked and felt so discombobulated – it feels and appears as if you’re swinging too hard.

Yes, deceleration is often pegged to other shots/clubs such as chips, wedges and putting … but, it does also happen many times with Driver. Because the accumulation of constantly being told that you’re swinging too hard has Golfers standing over the golf ball repeating “swing nice ‘n easy, nice ‘n easy, nice ‘n easy”. Which may contribute to you decelerating.

Fortunately, all that maybe happening is that your arms or body is decelerating. And because you looked so out of control – it appears as if you were swinging harder than you should.

Though – if you’re body and arms are moving together at any speed – it would appear as if you had made a smooth golf swing. As the typical PGA Tour Pro swings his Driver at 120 mph and the average 90 shooter swings at 85 mph … yet, the Pro looks smoother while swinging at 35 mph faster!

Believe me, I wish I could give you a guaranteed way to never swing too hard or too slow again. However, learning to have your arms and body working together is a great place to start!

And … next week … we begin a new video series on how to get your body and arms working together for a smoother, more consistent golf swing. Be on the lookout for our next issue of Golf Improvement Weekly!

The Happy Golfer finds consistency with their Driver by understanding how to get their arms and body working together to produce a smooth swing

‘The Solution – What Moves Your Golf Swing?’ (video) Golf Improvement Weekly

This week … we’re going to start speaking about and demonstrating the ‘Cause’ of the issues creating frustration in your golf swing. In prior weeks … we’ve spoken about the ‘Effects’ that most Golfers are struggling to correct in their golf swing.

How much have you focused on your Center of Gravity when practicing and/or playing? Well, if you haven’t … you should! Your Center of Gravity dictates how well your arms, hips and legs move together when swinging your golf club.

What does a happy, successful Golfer think about and try to do in their golf swing?

What does the frustrated Golfer think about and try to do?

Why You May Have Trouble Completing Your Follow Through (video) – Golf Improvement Weekly

‘Are You Hanging Back And Having Trouble Finishing Your Swing?!’

A huge number of Golfers tell us they have trouble shifting their weight & following through … which causes them to lose distance and accuracy!
“If I could just shift my weight and complete my swing … I’d be happy!”
It seems like it should be such an easy thing to do … but, why do so many Golfers consistently have trouble finishing their swing?

Is it OK to Bend My Left Arm? (video) – Golf Improvement Weekly

‘My Arm Is Bending … I Need To Keep It Straight!’

You’ve heard it a million times … and you’ve felt it happen more times than you want to admit!
“You need to keep your left arm straight … you need to stop chicken winging it on your follow-through!”
It seems like it should be such an easy thing to do … but, you can’t consistently control it even when you concentrate to make sure you it doesn’t bend.

Consistency With Your Driver

The common issue many Golfers have is that when they want to hit the golf ball farther … they usually hit a worse than average shot. As the result is often a shot that is short, or flies into the trees, weeds, or water.

Why is it that when you try to swing harder … you hit bad golf shots? It has to do with the various parts of your body not working in synchronization. Meaning, when a Golfer tries to swing with more power … the brain doesn’t know how to get you into impact at that faster speed.

Driver Distance Equates To Easier Second Shots

As most Golf Professionals are pushing “you need to improve your short game to improve your scores” … we are pushing – “find the weakest part of your game and improve it so that you can lower your scores.”

And in reality – the weakest part of most Golfers game is their Driver. Yes, there are Golfers that hit their Driver well enough to easily get on the green (with a 7 iron or less) in two shots on a Par 4. However, that small select group may make-up about 20% of all Golfers.

How To Make A Consistent Golf Swing With Your Driver

The Driver is the name of the game. There’s nothing more satisfying than walking off the 18th green knowing that you hit your Driver well all day. In fact, there are times that I play golf just because I want the adrenaline rush that accompanies hitting great drives on the golf course.

To put it bluntly – you need to hit your Driver well to have fun on the golf course. Yes, you can hit your Driver well and still not score well on the golf course. Though, it’s very difficult to score well if you’re hitting your Driver poor – tee shot after tee shot.

Hit The Golf Ball Farther With Your Driver

Everybody wants more distance with their Driver. How can you get more distance?

The old joke goes that if you want more distance with your Driver – move to Denver, Colorado. Where the air is thin and you get an extra 10% on your drives because of it.

Yet, that’s not reality for most of us – plus the golf course architects have gotten smarter lately by making the golf courses out there – 10% longer. So the old joke doesn’t work anymore – it all equals out in Denver nowadays.

Hit Your Driver Like A Top Tour Player

Here we go again with Driving Accuracy. As this may come as a shock for any Golfer that has been diligent in trying to keep their golf ball on the short grass – Driving Accuracy when it comes to simply hitting Fairways is the most overrated stat in all sports. Now, I know that reading this information probably upsets many Golfers whose battle cry on the links is simply – “if I could just hit more fairways I could …!”

Your Golf Swing With Your Driver

What is the secret to hitting your Driver? Or in other words – Why is it that some Golfers can calmly grip their Driver while standing next to the golf ball, set-up and make a great golf swing? While others have no confidence as soon as they get their Driver in their hands … as they start to develop a twitch with just the thought of having to hit their Driver on a narrow Par 5.

Long Driver or Short Game Wizard?

What’s more important to you – thinking of yourself as a Long Driver of the golf ball or a Short Game Wizard? I think this is a good question for you to ask yourself. Now the answer can’t be – “I want to be a combination of both.” For this question it has to be either one or the other. So which is it? Are you going to be the bigger hitter in the group or the golfer that can get the ball Up-n-Down from anywhere within 50-yards of the green.

I Want To Hit My Driver!

Hitting your Driver is the greatest aspect of golf. There’s nothing I’d rather do more than be able to go on the golf course and hit my Driver. Walking to the tee of a Par 3 is a let down. Why even have Par 3’s? Let’s have only Par 4’s and Par 5’s so that we can hit Driver all the time!

And it’s a shame that there are Golfers out there that are afraid to pick up their Driver. “Oh, I can’t hit my Driver. I miss every fairway. So I just use my 3 wood.”

That’s no way to play golf!

How To Hit Your Driver

Hard, Smooth or Easy – How Do You Swing Your Driver?

The thought of swinging too hard is enough to make even the best Golfer stop to take a deep breath. For as long as many of us can remember, it’s been beaten into our brains that swinging too hard is one of the 3 Golf Commandments never to betray.

And so it is that whenever you hit a bad drive – the first thing that pops out of the mouth of anybody within a half-wedge away is: ‘Man, you looked like you were really trying to kill that ball!’ And your reply is most likely: ‘Yeah, I tried to hit that one a mile.’

Why Can’t I Improve My Driver? — Are You Practicing It Like A Monkey Or A Player?

“Why Can’t I Improve My Driver?”

Are Your Practicing Like A Monkey Or A Player?

If I was a Golfer in the northern Hemisphere that mainly played during the months of April through October (while sneaking in a late fall or early spring round once-in-a-while), I’d have my focus primarily on hitting good tee shots more than anything else. I mean … c’mon, is there anything more fun and satisfying than hitting a great drive?
