Find Your Balance

Why You Should - Go For It!

There was a study recently done by a well respected Insurance Company that could relate to your golf game. In this study, the Insurance Company visited 10-different Senior Citizen centers around the country, wanting to know what people nearing their final phase, thought about how they lived their life.

I won’t go into full details about the results of the study because you’re here to read about golf and how to improve your game. Though one of the questions the Insurance Company asked and subsequent answers they received is interesting - and I think it relates to how we sometimes think about our golf.

They asked the participants - “If you could live your life over again, what would you do differently?” The overwhelming answer might surprise you. 83% of the participants said they “would take more risks.”

Go For It! Play More Golf!

Now how does that relate to your golf game? No, it doesn’t mean that you should fire at every flag or open up your lob wedge all the way to try to land the ball just over the bunker in that “sucker” pin placement. It relates to your golf game because we’re always saying we’re going to do the things we love to do - for example: “I’d really love to improve my golf game, it needs it!” - but inadvertently, something always gets in the way. In our fast paced world, where we’re constantly being distracted - we need to make more time for ourselves and do the things we love to do. Because sooner or later, we’ll be the ones being asked the questions by the Insurance Company.

We recently had a Doctor from Louisiana come to see us for a 3-Day Golf Made Simple program. And as we sat around the table at lunch talking and getting to know each other, he said something that I thought was incredible and I’ll never forget. He said “one of the reasons I play golf is for balance in my life.” I love that!

Go For It - Dr. K!

Picture a triangle with a piece of wood perfectly balanced on the top point. Then on the left side of the wood - picture yourself as the business/family person and all the time (weight) you devote to the well being of others. On the right side of the wood - picture yourself and the little time you’re able to devote to your well being. Is the board even or is it tilted more to the left side where you can actually picture yourself losing your balance trying to help everybody else around you? What are you going to do to re-balance yourself? -

Go For It! Play Better Golf!

“For balance in my life” - isn’t that a great reason to play better golf? And it’s similar to a quote by Jim Rohn, who said - “You need to throw out the old phrase of I’ll take care of you, if you take of me. And replace it with - I’ll take care of me for you, if you take care of you for me.” Doesn’t that make so much more sense? Take care of your golf game and because you’ll have more “balance in your life!” - the people around you will be better off.

Take more risk - improve your golf - and as Dr. K said - you’ll find “balance in your life!”

Go For It! Thanks Dr. K

I Developed A PLAN!
I'm More Confident

Hey Jacob,

I had a great time with you down in Florida, it was a fantastic experience. I picked-up a lot of info to improve my game and I’ve become more confident in hitting the ball off the tee box. I've been to the range a few times since being back and have been striking the ball very well.

I have to tell you what happened the other day -

I'm standing at the range and there is this guy using a sand wedge next to me who had just finished lessons with the local MONKEY. This guy was all over the place - chunking, slicing, everything you could imagine. I thought I could pass on your words of wisdom using the 4-Factors - Length of Swing, Pace of Swing, Centerness of Hit and Loft. I may have spent a maximum of 5-minutes with him and he could not believe it. This guy was popping his ball right on the green almost every shot and he looked at me like I was a genius. He then said - “what am I paying that guy for lessons, I want to take lessons from you (meaning me)!

You guys have great learning techniques. I will definitely recommend you every chance I get.

TICK TOCK,

Dan Devoe

On-Course Training
Limited Spots Available

Just a little urgency if you’re thinking about coming to Golf Made Simple in the January to May timeframe. Those Golf Schools are starting to fill-up and we’ve already have had to unfortunately turn away 2-groups because the dates they requested were fully booked.

To illustrate this - Marc Solomon only has openings on the following dates:

December 20-22 - Only 2-spots available

January 17-19 - 4-spots available

February 21-23 - 4-spots available

May 16-18 - Only 2-spots available

The rest of his schedule is sold-out!

Jacob Horsely is more open, though he does have a number of dates that are penciled-in for Golfers returning to see him from this past Spring. Along with Golfers that came to see him this September and October that want to see him again this coming Spring.

In Winter and Spring of 2004, we had to unfortunately turn away 63-Golfers because we were sold-out. If you don’t want to miss out on developing your PLAN for better golf - now might be a good time to start thinking about the dates you want to see us.  All you need to do is contact me with a time frame in mind and we’ll go from there. For example just call or email me and say:

Alex, I’m looking for dates you have open around the last week in Feb. or first week in March.

Or

Alex, I’d like to take a Golf Class sometime in the middle of April.

If you get my voicemail please leave a message - I’ll get right back to you!  A question I’m often asked is - “what is the difference between Marc and Jacob?” This is a great question. Marc is the founder of Golf Made Simple and has many returning golfers come to see him year after year - as you can see by his limited availability.

Jacob is our #1 Instructor and in the survey’s that we’ve sent to golfers after their Golf School - he has actually been rated higher than Marc in certain categories. As Marc has said - “If I was I going to improve my game, I’d rather have a Golf School with Jacob than with myself. He’s so patient and precise in his explanation, that it’s actually comforting to be around him on the golf course.”

Let me know the dates you’re thinking about, so we can at least pencil you in.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Marc,

My scores have been in the lower 80's and I have even had three rounds in the 70's (77,78,78). My index has improved to 11.8.

I've been using the methods that you taught me around the green - high shot, low shot, medium shot. It's really nice to be able to be creative with my clubs. I've also really been looking at the courses differently using my PLAN and thinking about left side or right side of this or that and that has helped a lot!

Most of my strokes, as far as percentages go, have been putts. I've started to try to roll the ball as opposed to just hitting it and that helps. Yesterday, I had 15 putts on the front, then I don't know what happened (confidence), I had 19 putts on the back. I need to have more one putts. I know on the front I was chipping the ball closer to the hole, on the back I think I had a few too many mental errors.

I'm feeling pretty good about my game and I know I'm still improving. I haven't put in the practice time I would like, so I guess I'm where I should be.

Thanks!

Janett

Janett - Thank you for the email. It's great to hear from you. Congratulations on your stellar play. You're doing great!

It sounds like you’re sticking to your PLAN and this will help you to continue to see success and improvements - I love the 15 putts! Though let's get that putting average down.

How about some time on the putting green? Would you like me to send you a Game you can play on the putting green so that practice won't be so boring?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the note. I would love to have a putting game that would keep the practice interesting.
