GMS in Palm Springs, California
Click Here To Listen to The Audio Version of Golf Improvement Weekly
This could be the biggest announcement GMS has ever made!
GMS is proud to announce that we have reached an agreement to add a new location in the Palm Springs, California area at The Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta.
If the name - The Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta sounds familiar – it might be because it was the host course for The PGA Tour’s LG Skins Game from 2003 to 2006! We’re not fooling around. This was the golf course that held The PGA Tour’s LG Skins Game that featured Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Fred Couples competing against each other for some big bucks!
And now GMS is giving you the opportunity to spend 3 days with us learning how to develop a more consistent Golf Swing, along with developing a PLAN for improvement in this fantastic location. You’ll be developing this PLAN each afternoon on the golf course that held one of the most prestigious events in golf for 4-years in a row!
Could you think of another place on the West Coast where you’d rather be playing golf when it starts to get too cold up North? What could be better than the golf course that held The PGA Tour’s LG Skins Game! Are you excited?
Set at the base of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains of Palm Desert, California, The Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta is a Gary Panks-design that was the home of the 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 PGA Tour LG Skins Game. This 18-hole championship Southern California golf course has been played by Tour Players such as the aforementioned Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Fred Couples, along with Phil Mickelson, Fred Funk and Mark O'Meara.
Have you ever been to the La Quinta/Palm Springs area?
If so, then you know why I’m so excited about our newest location! If you haven’t been to this area – now’s your chance. Let me tell you – I’ve always heard how nice this area is and I’ve seen the scenery on television – but you can’t understand it till you’re here. Words can’t describe the beauty of La Quinta – the sunshine, the blue sky and the mountains leaning up against the green golf courses. It’s no wonder why the Hollywood movie stars vacation in this area and why the PGA Tour always comes back to the La Quinta/Palm Springs area!
We have arranged accommodations at a brand new and beautiful Embassy Suites (that you might mistake for being a Ritz Carlton), that also offers additional accommodations in their beautiful casitas. With a pool, fitness center and full breakfast each morning – you can’t go wrong. Then add that you’re right across the street from Old Town La Quinta with Clint Eastwood’s Hogs Breath Saloon – and you’re in good hands.
Our first class at our La Quinta/Palm Springs location will be held Friday, November 30th to Sunday December 2nd and will continue through the end of May with a 3-Day GMS Program held every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – along with Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
So sign-up's start right now and continue through the end of May.
2007 and 2008 Rates and Dates are in place – click here to access our webpage for our La Quinta/Palm Springs location at The Trilogy Club at La Quinta.

“I Broke 90 for the First Time Ever!”
Hi Scott -
Dan and I played golf today and I broke 90 for the first time ever. I shot an 87. My putting was really good; I had 2 other pars that lipped out. I also had my best 9 holes ever. The front nine I shot a 40 with a 47 on the back. Dan was playing the blue tees and only beat me by 4 strokes. I'm a happy little golfer. Thank you and GMS.

“I Was a 16 handicap and I Shot 79!”
Hayden -
Golf update, played Sunday and shot an 82, my second lowest round of the year. The greens were very difficult and I 3-putted at least 5 or 6 times but I also had 4 birdies and played away from trouble.
The biggest key was having my drives in play, even if they were in the rough they were in play! My 2 goals after GMS were to break 80 and get my index down to a 12 (from a 16). I shot a 79 this year and my index is at 13.9 right now. I am very happy with my progress this year. I have played more golf than normal this summer, but I am playing a different kind of golf - a better kind of golf. I now have a foundation and know I will progress every time I step onto the course. I know that handicap will come down a little bit every year.
Thanks,
Tim B. – Chicago, Illinois – Sent October 8th, 2007
Attended St. Augustine location on March 23rd to 25th, 2007

Two New, Excellent GMS Locations
Can you believe the announcements of our two latest locations – Boca Raton/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and La Quinta/Palm Springs, California? Can you think of two better places to be between December and May for a Golfer?
And both facilities have hosted prestigious events – the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic at Heron Bay in South Florida and The PGA Tour’s LG Skins Game at The Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. And trust me - we’re not letting you down as far as accommodations!
Heron Bay has the beautiful Marriott right on property and our La Quinta property has the Embassy Suites that offers a free shuttle back and forth to the golf course each day. Both have excellent rooms, a restaurant on property (along with others very close by), a fitness center, swimming pools with hot tubs and either a Spa on property (Embassy Suites) or free transportation to the Spa (Marriott).
With our South Florida property, you can fly into either Ft. Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA), or West Palm Beach (PBI) and either rent a car or have us arrange a Town Car to pick you up. At our La Quinta/Palm Springs location, you can fly into Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and either rent a car or have us arrange a Town Car to pick you up – or you can fly into John Wayne Airport (SNA) or Los Angeles International (LAX) and rent a car.
To get even more details about these two locations or any of our other GMS locations – please send me an email or preferably a telephone call so that we can make sure that we can help you have a great Golf Learning Experience!

Alex

What makes Golf so attractive to Golfers? Is it the satisfaction after hitting a great golf shot? Is it shooting your best score ever? Yes, it can be.
But it also can be where you’re playing. It’s always nice to be able to play a nice golf course in your local area - I’m sure you have a favorite. But there’s nothing like traveling to a new location and discovering a course you’ve never played before.
And then being able to play a golf course that the best players in the world have played – well, can there be anything better than having the opportunity to make birdie on a hole that Tiger possibly only made Par?

How To Shoot 81 – Revisited
In last week’s PGA Tour event in Texas – Bill Glasson scored an 81 in the 1st round on a Par 70 golf course. So this could equate to an 83 on a Par 72 golf course. This isn’t big news in the world of sports – but if you scored an 81 or 83 – it might be big news for you; since 8 out of every 10 Golfers have never scored 81 or 83.
So let’s look at Bill’s round as a positive – as a blueprint into how you can score 81 (or if you’re a Golfer trying to break 90 or 100 – how you can use these stats to understand what you need to do to break your magic number).
Bill hit his tee shots an average of 278 yards and had 35 putts. How does this relate to you? Bill was playing on a golf course that was 6,881 yards and you’re most likely playing from 6,200 (Men) and 5,000 (Women). So this would say that a man needs to hit the golf ball 250 yards to equal Bill’s length and a woman would need to hit the golf ball 206 yards to equal Bill’s length.
Now before you say ‘I can’t hit the golf ball that far’ – you don’t have to. This is a blueprint to score 81 – would you be happy with scoring just a few strokes higher? If you’d be happy with an 86 or 87 – then I’d say that 217 yards for the men and 148 yards for the women would be good enough.
And then there’s putting – Bill had 35 putts in his round of Golf. The Golfer that’s averaging 95 has close to 41 putts per round and the Golfer that’s averaging 105 has close to 47 putts per round. If you’re a 95 Golfer and improve from 41 putts to 35 putts – you’re now an 89 Golfer. If you’re a 105 Golfer and improve from 47 putts to 35 putts – you’re now a 93 Golfer.
